A Soft Place to Land
© Donna Van Keuren She’s tired And the world feels cold So tired Never felt so old She’s walkin’ down this lonely road And she’s lookin’ for a soft place to land These days They go on and on and on Not sure She will ever find where she belongs One step, one breath, she presses on And she’s lookin’ for that soft place to land No one can save her It wouldn’t help her if they tried Sometimes the only way to live Is to let go And let things die And so She finally lets it fall Gives in And lets go of it all Laying down in what is now She’s resting in that shifting sand And she’s finally found a soft place to land |
Phoenix
© Donna Van Keuren She cries, and towers fall And with them go the rules and the prison walls And in the burning is the yearning for the new To break through And watch her phoenix rise Burn . . . burn, burn down Ages of pain all falling to the ground She flies to watch it reign Nothing here will ever be the same And in the madness, the sadness is renewed She’s come unglued Now watch the phoenix rise This is her story The glory is her due If she only knew Now watch her phoenix rise Watch her phoenix rise Watch her phoenix rise |
Come Home
© Donna Van Keuren There lies a grace Beyond what you know Perilous to find Cruel and yet kind It changes you so It holds you in-between Your future and your past It calls you to your heart It breaks your world apart Revealing what will last Come Home To this moment, this now Come Home There’s no need to know how Come Home Simply allow the mystery Where you’re safe Be still, and rest Rest while you heal Trust the love that guides you Let new life be revealed Mirrors fall You face what you refused The darkness and the light The power and the fight Are known as illusion And everything comes home The peace for which you yearn The harmony, the song The innocence gone The wisdom will return Come Home To this moment, this now Come Home There’s no need to know how Come Home Simply allow Your heart, it sings Your soul has wings to emerge through mystery |
